Premature Ejaculation Numbing Solutions

In America today, millions of men are suffering a sexual dysfunction.

However, it's not erectile dysfunction – which can be cured with a simple little blue pill. No, rather than having trouble getting it up, a lot of men get it up quite easily, but have trouble delaying their orgasm and experience premature ejaculation (PE). In fact, about one-third of all men in all age groups post-puberty have premature ejaculation problems.

Premature ejaculation is a common sexual problem that is coming to light and getting more attention now that more men are admitting to the problem. And while there is no little blue pill that can solve premature ejaculation, there are a variety of potential solutions. One of the solutions used by many men is a topical numbing cream.

Numbing creams are also known as anesthetic creams, primarily because the active ingredient is a topical anesthetic. However, because it is an anesthetic, numbing creams can only be obtained through a physician's prescription.

What is a Numbing Cream?

A numbing cream is simply a prescription cream that contains an active anesthetic ingredient such as lidocaine or prilocaine. These types of topical anesthetics dull the sensation in nerve endings and create a feeling of "numbness" in the penis. When used properly, a numbing cream may provide just enough reduction in sensation to delay ejaculation and prolong sex.

How Long Does It Last?

From the time the anesthetic cream is fully removed from the penis, the numbing sensation could last from about a half hour to two hours. That means that the cream solution should be applied well before the act of sexual intercourse will take place, making it necessary to plan almost to the minute when intercourse will happen.

Do Numbing Creams Work?

Numbing creams used on the male genitals is a successful solution for some men with premature ejaculation, but not all. When used properly, a numbing cream will de-sensitize the penis just enough so that an erection can be obtained and maintained with some sense of stimulation.

The most likely candidates for this type of remedy are men who suffer from premature ejaculation due to an over-sensitive penis. Some men who "come" too soon simply do so because their erect penis is hyper-sensitive to stimulation, and they reach orgasm with very little effort. A de-sensitizing cream may be a workable solution for this type of premature ejaculation problem.

The Downsides to Creams

While topical numbing creams may work for some men, there are downsides that other men may experience such as:

  • Planning Time – In order to use a numbing cream, a couple must plan ahead in terms of hours. The cream must be applied up to two hours before any direct intercourse occurs. This can be a downer when it comes to spontaneous sex.
  • Loss of Sensation – One of the great joys of sexual intercourse is the out-of-this-world feeling of genital stimulation. When a numbing cream is applied, the overall joy of this experience is diminished.
  • Loss of erection or no climax – For some men, a de-sensitizing cream will simply remove the pleasure of sexual stimulation, making it more difficult to obtain an erection or even reach climax.

There are certainly pros and cons associated with numbing creams, but for some men, they prove to be an effective solution for premature ejaculation.
